Do you know that UK garages don’t need to be licensed or that mechanics don’t have to be qualified to diagnose faults and carry out repairs to your car?
Imagine that being the case for electricians or gas fitters – even though a bad mechanic could just as easily compromise your personal safety.
In a nutshell, when motorists choose a garage on the basis of price alone, they may well be taking a big risk. For this is an industry used to customer complaints when unscrupulous garage staff cut quality corners and quote low prices that escalate when they start the work.

Few women enjoy the garage experience, most find it an overly ‘blokey’ experience and too many are intimidated altogether. Which suggests that some garages are ignoring their female customers despite the value of their purse AND forgetting the fact that women often decide where the family cars go for their MOTs, car servicing and repairs.
