Women to pay 25% more for car insurance
This December women drivers are to be charged the same as men for car insurance because of an EU ruling preventing insurers from charging premiums based on gender.
Surcharges in the region of 25% are now being predicted for females, despite the statistical evidence that women drivers are less of an insurance risk than men and are therefore cheaper for motor insurers to insure.
This might be called ‘gender equality’ in the EU but FOXY calls it grossly UNFAIR FOR FEMALES in the UK.
FOXY’s ‘UNFAIR FOR FEMALES’ campaign
FOXY Lady Drivers Club is planning a campaign called UNFAIR FOR FEMALES to explain this to HM Government and women drivers across the UK.

This level of increase in car insurance premiums may well be the tipping point for many female motorists who are not just VERY IMPORTANT VOTERS but many are also bearing the brunt of major economic hardship in 2012.
For as long as we can remember, women have been entitled to lower insurance premiums for good reason. When it comes to determining male and female motor insurance premiums, the undisputed statistical evidence is that women, on average,
- have fewer serious accidents than men
- are less likely to be prosecuted for speeding
- take in the region of 15 lessons more than men before passing their driving test
- drive fewer miles per annum than men
- are more likely to have children onboard which encourages more cautious driving behaviour.
What’s so UNFAIR FOR FEMALES in 2012?
The EU’s so called ‘gender equality’ ruling is UNFAIR FOR FEMALES because
- all insurance is about underwriting risk based on actuarial evidence
- women will be charged a lot more for car insurance despite being the lower risk gender
- some men may end up paying a little less for car insurance including young males who are more likely to cause serious accidents than their female counterparts
- women will therefore be subsidising car accidents they didn’t cause
- insurers will make more profit because the EU is actively encouraging them to charge women more than they need to.
