ASA 'backs up smart claim'

Foxy lady drivers prefer new car dealerships that have signed the female friendly FOXY Promise© to never knowingly overcharge, patronise or sell women motorists' services they don't need.
Environmentally-friendly women drivers may welcome a recent ruling from the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA).
The group has decided a marketing campaign from the car company smart - which claims one of its models can cover 433 miles on a single tank of fuel - is not misleading.
In its adjudication, the ASA stated there was sufficient evidence to show that a smart car can travel from London to Edinburgh after one trip to the pump.
Managing director of Mercedes-Benz Cars Dermot Kelly said: "We're delighted that the ASA has vindicated our position on what is a very solid environmental and economical message."
He added travelling the 433 miles between London and Edinburgh on a 33-litre tank of fuel is well within the capabilities of the smart fortwo.
Meanwhile, female motorists who are considering buying a new car this year may want to check out the smart cdi which arrives in showrooms next month.
According to the manufacturer, the vehicle offers the lowest CO2 emissions of any model currently in production at 88 g/km.
