The credit crunch means couples are spending less on getting hitched - including shelling out for wedding cars - but it is not putting people off getting married altogether, Weddings Ideas Magazine claims.

Editor Rachel Moschke said spending thousands of pounds on your big day is not necessary.

She stated instead "it is really important to concentrate on the couple and being together".

A survey by You & Your Wedding magazine has found on average couples are spending £308 on the transportation for their big day, compared to £422 in 2006.

For female drivers on a budget who still want to arrive at the church in style, searching for moneysaving motoring offers is one potential way to cut costs without compromising on style.

Brides may also want to consider having a family member drive.

Ms Moschke said the more you involve your family "the more personal your day can be".
