FOXY Newsdesk British drivers 'going green' 04 June 09
Women drivers who always try and purchase the greenest car possible are not alone, it has been suggested.
Auto information group HPI claimed there has been a significant rise in the number of used vehicle buyers opting for environmentally-friendly models.
It stated this was partly as a result of the troubled economy - because people are starting to realise a set of wheels that has minimal impact on the ozone layer can also protect their pocket.
Consumer services manager Nicola Johnson commented: "Choosing a used car with lower emissions can not only help save the planet, but can save motorists money too."
In order to assist buyers looking for the greenest vehicles available, HPI offers a CO2 certificate when it conducts checks on second-hand motors.
Ms Johnson said this document allows drivers to make informed decisions.
In related news, Toyota recently claimed the launch of its new Prius will be one of the most important automotive events of the summer.
