Brits 'increasingly victims of road rage' 10 April 08
Female drivers may be among the one in six motorists who have been victims of road rage.
According to findings by comparison site MoneyExpert.com, the past 12 months has seen a sixth of drivers on the receiving end of another motorist's rage, with younger drivers the most likely to be a victim.
The results show that almost 300,000 motorists have had their vehicles damaged after a road rage incident, which the website suggests highlights the need for insurance.
Sean Gardner of MoneyExpert.com, said: "Most of us will have lost our tempers while stuck in traffic and can sympathise with the sense of frustration felt by other drivers.
"But any sympathy goes out of the window for drivers who take out their anger on others. Shouting and swearing at other motorists is bad enough but damaging other drivers' cars is beyond the pale."
The most common form of road rage reported was aggressive driving such as tailgating.
Website SaferMotoring.co.uk states that both male and female drivers on the receiving end of road rage should try to stay calm and not make eye contact with the enraged road user.
