Car checks 'could prevent a bank holiday breakdown'
Women drivers planning to jump in their cars this weekend and get away from it all may do well to conduct some basic vehicle checks before leaving.
Continental Tyres warned failing to do so could spoil a nice day out.
Tim Bailey from the company said: "It's important to make sure that your car is fit to do the journey - after all you don't want to spend time broken down at the side of the road."
Motorists were issued with this advice after research by the firm found 50 per cent of people do not check tyre pressure before getting behind the wheel and 65 per cent do not look to see if they have enough screen wash.
When the weather is wet, drivers were reminded it is especially important to check tyre tread depth as well.
Ladies who are particularly keen that their vehicle does not let them down over the weekend may want to book it in for car servicing at a local female-friendly garage.
