Car insurance advice for female festivalgoers 18 March 08
Foxy lady motorists thinking of driving to one of the many festivals that take place in the UK during the summer months have been advised about the steps they need to take if they want to share the driving with a friend.
According to the RAC, anyone considering letting a friend get behind the wheel of their car should first contact their car insurance provider.
"If they know they are going to want one of their friends to drive to Glastonbury ... they need to call their insurer and add that person on as a named driver of the vehicle. That way the person will be fully covered," said Erik Nelson, a spokesperson for the RAC.
Mr Nelson also advised drivers that anyone who has fully comprehensive insurance for their own vehicle is only covered "third party" when taking to the wheel of someone else's car.
A survey released earlier this month by Young Marmalade revealed that around 250,000 new road users insure the car they drive regularly on their parents' insurance, a practice known as insurance fronting.
FOXY Lady Drivers know to compare premiums by shopping at comparison websites then sharing claims experiences within the club.
