FOXY Newsdesk Cash for bangers 'may not be responsible for industry upturn'
Women drivers who are dubious about the scrappage scheme may agree that the improving fortunes of the car industry are not necessarily down to the government initiative.
The Association of British Drivers has claimed the fact vehicle registrations fell at their lowest rate since July 2008 last month may not mean the cash for bangers programme is a success.
Hugh Bladon from the group stated: "It may be something to do with that, but it may also be something to do with people recovering a bit from the financial situation."
The organisation's representative said he was unsure £2,000 would be sufficient to make drivers trade in their old bangers for brand new vehicles.
Mr Bladon also suggested the aging autos being handed over could be put to better use.
He claimed scrapping the models was wasteful and they should be donated to good causes instead.
Meanwhile, female motorists who do not want to take part in the cash for bangers initiative may find they can keep their old banger running for a few more years by ensuring they book it in for regular car servicing.
