Foxy lady drivers could soon be able to drive a cousin of the Nissan Micra never before available in the UK.

What Car? says the Japanese car manufacturer is planning to make the box-like Cube available in Europe after it proved popular in its homeland.

Low on emissions and with plenty of boot space, the Cube could appeal to women drivers looking to cut tax costs and buy a practical city car.

What Car? reports "the Cube is likely to have a strong future" due to a growing trend for cars that cut costs and are kinder to the environment.

The Cube's popularity with young Japanese motorists and better than expected sales figures reportedly prompted Nissan chief executive officer Carlos Ghosn to say it is likely to head abroad.

The model is currently only available in the UK through specialist importers who arrange for quirky cars to be shipped in.

A four-cylinder 1.4 engine ensures the cube does around 41 miles per gallon and gives the car a top speed of around 104mph.
