Drivers can use 'Formula 1 gadget' to cut fuel costs 09 May 08
Female motorists can closely monitor their own driving Formula 1-style thanks to technology developed by an insurance company.
Green Wheels is a new innovation from More Than which analyses braking, acceleration rates and journey numbers to help drivers improve efficiency and cut emissions.
The invention uses a 'Green Box' hooked up to a car's engine management system to read driving style in a method similar to techniques used by Formula 1 teams.
FOXY Founder, Steph Savill, welcomed the Green Wheels initiative and hoped it might herald reduced insurance rates for foxy ladies who could prove themselves to be better, more efficient and more environmentally aware drivers by way of this technology.
The innovation sends on data to a More Than web page where women drivers can access their own reports and learn how to drive in a more economical fashion.
Men will also benefit from the technology, which the firm hopes could vastly reduce pollution in the UK if it proves widely popular with the country's estimated 31 million cars.
Formula 1 teams have partnerships with IT firms who supply them with ever-advancing engine monitoring technology to analyse driver performance and bring down lap times.
