FOXY Newsdesk Drivers 'have been slow to embrace greener habits'
Men and women drivers are not embracing environmentally-friendly habits as enthusiastically as they might, it has been claimed.
According to the Campaign for Better Transport, there has been a shift in attitude among motorists but it is not happening quickly enough.
Campaigns director Jason Torrance said: "Behaviour is changing by drivers but all too slowly and that is due in the main to lack of government leadership."
He called on MPs to offer incentives which would encourage people to reduce their speed, turn to public transport or not to travel at all.
Mr Torrance added the change in behaviour which had been displayed by male and female drivers in the UK had been brought about by a desire to save the planet and cut motoring costs.
Last month, a report from the Campaign for Better Transport claimed a 20 per cent reduction in public transport fares would increase rail travel by 17 per cent and the number of people using buses by 13 per cent within eight years.
