Drivers 'need to be alert during school run'
Male and female drivers need to stay alert on the school run, it has been claimed.
Sainsbury's Car Insurance issued this advice after conducting research that suggested motorists are more erratic on the roads while taking youngsters to and from the classroom.
In the last five years, over one million drivers have been involved in crashes on the school run, with twice as many collisions happening during the morning journey than while completing the afternoon trip.
Some five per cent of those questioned put their less than exemplary performance behind the wheel during the school run down to being tired.
A further ten per cent said the kids distracted them and 14 per cent admitted they took more risks because they were worried about being late.
Spokeswoman for Sainsbury's Lucy Hunter stated: "At these often hectic times of the day, it's important to stay alert and focused."
