Drivers 'play key part in road safety'
Ladies keen to protect the cheap premiums they secured by purchasing specialist insurance for women drivers may back calls for vehicle owners to take responsibility for road safety.
The Institute of Advanced Motorists welcomed recent Department for Transport statistics that showed traffic accident fatalities and casualties are falling in the UK.
However, it added there is no room for complacency and pointed out drivers have an important role to play in reducing collision rates further.
Director of policy and research Neil Greig stated: "The challenge for the government is to provide a safe ... road network and for motorists to take more responsibility for their safety by treating driving as a skill for life."
The number of people who died in traffic crashes in the UK last year fell by 14 per cent, compared to 2007.
Meanwhile, female motorists who have built up a good no-claims bonus may find they have access to the best deals on specialist insurance for women drivers.
