Drivers 'should brush up on vehicle maintenance'
Men and women drivers may benefit from improving their vehicle maintenance knowledge, it has been suggested.
According to Car Parts Direct, motorists who do not understand the basics of how their autos work are in a vulnerable position.
It explained people could end up having unnecessary jobs carried out or paying over the odds for repairs, if they are ignorant about the internal workings of their vehicles.
The company also claimed more cars would probably get through their MOTs first time, if owners stuck their heads under the bonnet more often.
Spokesman Mark Cornwall explained: "Something as simple as revving the engine before parking up for an MOT - or adding injector cleaner to the fuel - can be enough to ensure a vehicle passes the MOT emissions test."
This comes after the Vehicle and Operator Service Agency revealed approximately one in three cars fails this annual examination.
