Drivers urged to be vigilant against rogue clampers
Male and female motorists planning on getting away over the bank holiday weekend have been urged to be on their guard against "unscrupulous" clamping operators.
The RAC Foundation claimed people heading to tourist hotspots could have their breaks spoiled by unfair parking restrictions.
It stated 1.2 million Brits have had their autos clamped on private land and warned some firms demand considerably more to release vehicles than the voluntary guideline of £125.
The group went on to urge motorists to ensure they check signage carefully to make sure they are fully informed of the potential charges they may incur for parking in the wrong place.
Director of the RAC Foundation Professor Stephen Glaister claimed in the long-term the issue needed to be addressed properly.
He stated: "Penalties need to be brought into line with those levied on the public highway."
In other news, the RAC Foundation recently claimed the cost of food and drink at motorway service stations should be reduced because such facilities need to be as attractive as possible to motorists in order to encourage them to take regular breaks.
