A stunning new version of an MG roadster has been unveiled to whet the appetites of convertible-loving women drivers.

Auto Express has published pictures of the new MG TF which will replace a TF line currently in production at the Longbridge MG plant in the West Midlands.

New MG models are yet to arrive on British forecourts following a Chinese takeover of the company in 2005.

Auto Express reports: "Emerging from the ashes of the famous company, the roadster is the first sign that the spirit of MG is alive and well."

MG F and MG TF models boasted a wide appeal with women drivers looking for affordable mid-engine convertibles, but no new TFs have appeared since the 2005 takeover.

The magazine's pictures show a redesigned body shape with a proud, swooping front and striking red paint colour.

A limited edition version of the TF involving just 500 models is currently set to start production at Longbridge in August.
