Female motorists advised to pick a used motor over a new one
23 April 08

Women drivers looking to get good value for money from a car they buy should consider the used car market in the current economic climate, one firm has recommended.

EurotaxGlass's, the publisher of Glass's Guide to Used Car Values, has suggested that those looking to buy a car should turn to used vehicles during the time of the credit crunch.

"Conditions for buying a used car are at their most favourable for some years, with consumers now more likely to find the model they want, at a price they can afford," said Adrian Rushmore, managing editor at EurotaxGlass's.

Mr Rushmore added that the average three-year-old car will lose £700 more from its as new price in 2008 than it did in 2007, suggesting male and female motorists looking for a good deal could benefit.

Finally, the managing editor suggested that dealers are unlikely to reject any reasonable offer on a used car, such is their desire "to have cash in the bank".

Earlier this month, research from Experian revealed that many Britons seem to be choosing greener options when buying a used car, favouring diesel vehicles over petrol ones.
