Female motorists 'beware potholes'
It has been revealed the number of potholes in the road has increased by a third - which could affect car insurance claims.
According to the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM), which was behind the research, the growth in the number of potholes could delay buses, damage cars and even upend two-wheelers.
The IAM recommends, upon spotting a pothole ahead, drivers utilise their knowledge to position the vehicle in such a way that it can be avoided.
"But check behind and ahead; don't drive too close to an oncoming vehicle to avoid a pothole. Or suddenly pull out to avoid a hole, to discover that there is a motorcyclist trying to get past you when you do so," it also suggests.
Meanwhile, recent research from the AA revealed approximately 2,000 motorists sustained damage to their vehicles as a result of potholes in February.
