Female motorists 'may be able to bag a bargain'
Women drivers who thought a new car was beyond their means may find they can get their hands on a recently released model for a lot less than they were expecting, it has been suggested.
According to Which? Car the difficulties being experienced in the sector at the moment have resulted in dealers coming up with some tempting offers.
Recent figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders revealed new car registrations were down 21.9 per cent last month compared to February 2008.
Which Car? said this may well mean buyers can haggle their way to a great bargain on the latest 09-plate models.
Editor Richard Headland commented: "March isn't usually the time to get a great new car deal, but this year everything's up for grabs."
When purchasing a vehicle, motorists were advised to take into account running costs rather than just the ticket price.
The magazine explained some of the best deals are on uneconomical larger vehicles.
It pointed out these types of cars may not be worth much when the time comes to trade them in.
Which Car? recently reported there were tempting deals available on green models like the Toyota Aygo and Citroen C1.
