Female motorists 'prefer independent garages'
Women drivers are more likely to take their vehicle to a local independent garage for car servicing than their male counterparts, it has been revealed.
Research by Experian showed 51 per cent of female motorists would choose this option compared to 43 per cent of men.
Male drivers were more inclined than women to visit a franchised dealer owned by the same carmaker that produced their vehicle.
However, all motorists - regardless of gender - were looking for the same qualities when it came to choosing a garage to carry out car repairs and car maintenance.
Of those questioned, 72 per cent said they valued quality of workmanship most highly and 67 per cent said they were looking for value of money.
Kirk Fletcher, managing director with Experian, said 62 per cent of vehicle owners intending to keep their motors for at least three years.
He added: "This makes car servicing an important area for dealers and even an area of differentiation."
Women drivers looking for a firm to carry out maintenance or repairs may benefit from researching the best female-friendly garages in their area.
