Female motorists 'uneasy buying second-hand motors'
Women drivers can feel intimidated when buying a used car, it has been suggested.
According to auto information group HPI, a significant number of female motorists would rather leave it to their husband, a friend of the opposite sex or the dealer to check a vehicle's history.
However, this was not because women did not appreciate the importance of looking into a car's background.
Of those ladies questioned, four out of five said they thought knowing about a second-hand auto's history was the most important thing to do when purchasing such a model.
Business manager Nicola Johnson said: "Whilst female buyers are just as aware as their make counterparts of the pitfalls of buying in the used car market, they feel much more vulnerable about putting themselves through the buying experience."
She went on to say looking into a vehicle's history is not as daunting as it might initially seem, advising them to simply complete an HPI check.
Ladies might find identifying a female-friendly garage can help take the stress out of buying a second-hand motor as well.
