Female motorists urged to get organised this Christmas
Women drivers could save cash by taking more care to plan their Christmas shopping trips, it has been suggested.
According to research by uSwitch, Brits heading out to buy presents are spending almost £93 million on car use and parking charges.
The price comparison website said, with many people keen to tighten their belts, consumers need to be aware of the hidden costs of a trip to the shops.
It added shoppers who buy all of their presents at once will be looking at paying out an average of £6.14 on both petrol and parking.
However, people who make multiple trips will be facing shelling out an average of £12.32 on both.
Director of consumer policy at uSwitch Ann Robinson said: "This credit crunch Christmas, it makes sense to plan any shopping trips in advance so you don't end up wasting money on car parking fees."
Previous research by the price comparison group found 77 per cent of motorists would think twice about buying a new vehicle in the current economic climate.
