FOXY Newsdesk Females fear fraud when buying cars online?
Women drivers may be among the 60 per cent of used car buyers who cite fraud as their biggest worry when it comes to purchasing a vehicle online.
According to figures from independent vehicle information provider HPI, almost 70 per cent of used car buyers also feel that they are more likely to buy a risky car when purchasing over the internet.
However, roughly the same number said they felt that looking for a vehicle online offered them greater choice.
Of those questioned, less than half said that they would carry out basic online checks, such as vehicle valuation.
FOXY Lady Drivers Club Founder Steph Savill commented: "We recommend that our members always check a used car's credentials before they buy it; we're promoting HPI as the best known check out there and adding our motoring voice to make sure that more women drivers know the risks they run by buying what appears to be a nice-looking used car from an equally genuine looking seller."
She added that, however, that some motorists could find themselves lumbered with previous owner's outstanding car finance payments unless they do their homework before handing over any cash.
