A car model popular with women drivers could become an eco vehicle after developers produced a concept model.

Fiat is showing off the Panda Aria at its DR1VE ECO event in a new store in Marylebone, London.

The futuristic city car uses a petrol and methane-hydrogen fuel management system designed to reduce CO2 emissions.

Fiat marylebone managing director Tony Dittli said the eco event was a "wonderful opportunity" for the company to show what progress it was making in terms of environmental motoring.

The Panda Aria could appeal to women interested in female friendly new cars, as the current Panda is aimed at women urban drivers.

Fia recently launched the Bravo 1.6 16v MultiJet Eco, a mid-size hatchback that returns 62.8mpg and has a CO2 emissions output of just 119 g/km.

The current Panda also has a MultiJet engine and does 65.7mpg, while front seatbelt pretension technology removes the slack in belts just before a collision.
