FOXY Newsdesk Fiat's green efforts rewarded
Female motorists who are always looking at ways of reducing their carbon footprint may be pleased to hear Fiat's efforts to help drivers reduce CO2 emissions have been recognised.
The manufacturer's eco:Drive technology came first in the digital technology class at the MediaGuardian Innovation Awards.
Launched last year, the system offers users advice on how they can reduce emissions and fuel consumption.
A USB stick is plugged into the car's dashboard and details of a motorist's driving style are recorded.
This information can then be downloaded onto a computer so the user can see what habits they can change in order to minimise their impact on the planet and reduce the amount they spend at the pump.
Claudio Annicchiarico, head of digital Fiat UK, stated: "It's the first time that an automotive brand has launched an interactive technology that helps its customers improve their style of driving in order to help preserve the environment."
Last month, the supermodel Jodie Kidd tried out eco:Drive and said it was "a great idea".
