Fuel fugitives may impress female drivers
Female motorists keen to reduce their running costs may be impressed by the achievements of two Peugeot drivers.
The manufacturer has reported a couple in its 308 SE HDi 110 model have travelled around the UK, achieving average economy of 126.8 mpg.
Nicknamed the fuel fugitives, the pair's feat has been verified by Guinness World Records.
Even the carmaker voiced surprise at the model's performance.
Fleet sales director Phil Robson said: "We've been telling customers that our low-CO2 Peugeot vehicles are ... very economical and fuel efficient, but I have to say even I am very impressed by this achievement."
The 308 managed to cover 3,700 miles on 29.1 gallons of diesel, which the manufacturer explained is just over two tanks full.
Meanwhile, women drivers keen to ensure their auto is as efficient as it can be may find regular car servicing can help them increase the number of miles they are able to travel between trips to the pump.
