Green car insurance 'is not costly'
Women drivers should not find they have to shell out more for car insurance for green models than they do for standard vehicles, if new figures are anything to go by.
According to data from moneysupermarket.com, cover for a hybrid or electric auto costs roughly the same as that for a petrol-powered motor.
The price comparison website also pointed out that drivers who opt for an environmentally-friendly car will probably make savings in other areas.
It explained hybrid and electric models generally qualify for reduced-cost road tax, with some vehicles being exempt from the charge altogether.
The online resource issued this advice after conducting a survey that found 39 per cent of British drivers would trade their current car in for a green model if they required a new auto.
Spokesperson Steve Sweeney said: "It is encouraging to see so many motorists are conscious of their carbon footprint and are looking for ways to make a difference."
Meanwhile, ladies keen to make savings may find specialist car insurance for women drivers is a cheap option, as female road users are generally considered to pose a lower risk than their male counterparts.
