FOXY Newsdesk Green women drivers 'may save cash'
Environmentally-friendly women drivers who try and do their bit for the planet may see their car insurance premiums fall, it has been claimed.
According to the British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba), the steps motorists take to reduce their carbon footprint often mean they are considered to be a lower risk and therefore qualify for less expensive cover.
It explained people keen to reduce their impact on the environment often opt for cars with smaller engines - and this generally means they fall into a lower insurance bracket.
The organisation added those male and female drivers who try to limit their vehicle use to cut CO2 emissions should also qualify for cheaper cover because they are travelling less.
Graeme Trudgill from Biba pointed out motorists with eco-friendly habits should be able to get low-cost insurance without opting for a policy aimed specifically at green motorists.
He stated: "The green thing can sometimes be slightly misinterpreted and companies are using the green term to attract people with that particular conscience and awareness of green issues."
Female motorists may find they can get the best deals on specialist insurance for women drivers.
