Insurance initiative may appeal to young women drivers
Young female drivers looking for a good deal on car insurance may be interested in a new way of doing things in the industry.
The British Insurance Brokers' Association (Biba) explained some providers are offering policies with certain restrictions that mean customers qualify for cheaper premiums.
For example, motorists might agree to avoid getting behind the wheel between 23:00 and 05:00 in order to benefit from less expensive protection.
Steve Foulsham, technical services manager at Biba, stated: "One or two insurers have been in this market anyway, but it could be that this could start to get some more impetus perhaps going forward."
The scheme may hold particular appeal for younger motorists who can struggle to secure cheap cover, he suggested.
However, Mr Foulsham acknowledged some vehicle owners may not like the idea of having their comings and goings monitored so closely.
Young ladies who are unsure about this system may find they would be better opting for specialist insurance for women drivers.
This type of policy can be relatively cheap, as females are generally considered a lower risk than their male counterparts.
