An insurance firm is offering a policy with 'green box' technology to help motorists monitor their driving styles.

More Th>n has developed the Green Wheels product, which comes with a device designed to be linked to car engine management systems.

The gadget then produces graphs and summary sheets which could help drivers adopt habits which consume less fuel.

More Th>n product director Dowshan Humzah said: "Primarily, Green Wheels helps motorists to adapt their driving styles to reduce their carbon emissions and lower their impact on the environment."

He added the product would therefore also improve fuel efficiency and running costs.

Female drivers looking for a female friendly car insurance product could go for the policy as it promises to help actively reduce CO2 emissions while providing cover.

The government recently released figures saying motorists should pump out about 93 million tonnes of harmful CO2 in 2025, six million tonnes less than they are expected to produce in two years' time.
