FOXY Newsdesk Kia claims kids should be walking
Women drivers who want to do their bit for the planet and their kids' health may do well to follow the advice of one carmaker.
Kia has suggested motorists responsible for getting their children to school should consider walking rather than jumping into their auto.
The manufacturer claimed doing so would have a number of positive outcomes.
Group spokeswoman Sue Mulcaster said: "Walking short journeys rather than taking the car carries health benefits for us and the environment."
She added: "Reducing emissions and road traffic makes walking a healthier and safer activity."
Kia launched this appeal after conducting research that found 63 per cent of pupils in the UK get a lift to school, despite the fact 73 per cent are resident within a two-mile radius.
Children from the Midlands and the east of England are currently most likely to make their way to the classroom on foot - with 62 per cent walking every day.
In other news, Kia recently revealed its Picanto model is available for £4,195 under the scrappage scheme.
