Ladies may do well to protect their no-claims bonus
Female motorists choosing a policy from a company offering specialist car insurance for women drivers may be well advised to opt for cover that protects their no-claims bonus.
According to the British Insurance Brokers' Association, this could save people money in the long run, even if they have to shell out more up front.
It explained drivers who fail to do so may see their annual motor insurance bill rise significantly if they are involved in an accident.
Technical services manager Steve Foulsham explained: "Some companies will charge a little bit more at the outset to have that protected bonus, but the advantages if you have to claim far outweigh the cost that is there initially."
He acknowledged some individuals were keen to tighten their belts in the face of the recession, but added it is not always wise to cut corners when it comes to cover.
Meanwhile, ladies looking to get the best deal possible on a policy may find it pays to opt for specialist insurance for women drivers.
This type of cover can be cheaper than standard options, as females are generally considered a lower risk than their male counterparts.
