Lots of motorists 'taking advantage of scrappage scheme'
Female motorists who have taken advantage of the government's scrappage scheme may be far from being alone, if the comments of one industry body are anything to go by.
The Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has claimed the cash for bangers initiative has got off to an excellent start.
Chief executive Paul Everitt commented: "The scrappage incentive scheme is working well and has encouraged a lot more people back into showrooms."
He added the full extent of the programme's success would be revealed in the coming months as more orders are taken through to completion.
Figures from SMMT have shown nearly ten per cent of the 176,264 new cars sold in June were bought through the government scheme.
The initiative was launched on May 18th.
Meanwhile, women drivers who cannot afford to buy a new vehicle under the programme may find they can keep their current auto running smoothly for a few more years by taking it for regular car servicing.
