Mitsubishi advert 'unsuitable for children'

Foxy lady drivers prefer new car dealerships that have signed the female friendly FOXY Promise© to never knowingly overcharge, patronise or sell women motorists' services they don't need.

Women drivers may be surprised to learn that Mitsubishi has created an advert deemed too risque for daytime TV.

The campaign for the Lancer Evolution range shows a young boy and his father taking a drive in one of the cars.

Mitsubishi explained the boy asks "Where did I come from?" and the rest of the advert shows the father trying to explain the birds and the bees.

Clearcast, the company that states whether material can be broadcast before the nine o'clock watershed, decided this particular marketing campaign was not suitable for young children.

Lance Bradley, Mitsubishi's director of sales and marketing, said the regulator "thought that the light-hearted innuendo throughout the ad could be seen as inappropriate".

He added the manufacturer was happy for the broadcast to be shown when most youngsters would be in bed.

Meanwhile, Mitsubishi revealed last month that South Yorkshire police were using a Lancer Evolution X to help them in their fight against crime.
