More cycle lanes 'could make roads safer'
Women drivers keen to avoid making a car insurance claim may agree that more cycle lanes are needed across the UK.
The Institute of Advanced Motorists issued this statement in light of a recent report from the National Audit Office that suggested more needs to be done to protect people on bikes.
It stated both cyclists and drivers can make mistakes but when errors are made, the consequences are generally more serious for individuals on two wheels.
The organisation said by keeping the two groups separate as much as possible, the number of collisions between them could be kept to a minimum, adding this could be achieved through the introduction of more cycle paths.
Director of policy and research Neil Greig commented: "The government is already talking about creating the safest roads in the world and the biggest challenge will be to do this for our most vulnerable road users."
