Motorists in Oxford 'must be on their guard'
Women drivers in Oxford may be well-advised to remove valuables from their cars following a series of break-ins.
Among the items stolen from vehicles in the last few days were hair straighteners, a laptop, stereo, satnav and disabled badge.
The incidents occurred in a variety of areas from Chillington Cresent in Headington to Cowley Retail Park.
Detective Sergeant Matt Jarman from Oxford police station said: "We urge motorists to remove all their valuables, particularly laptops, satellite navigators and money from vehicles whenever the vehicle is unoccupied."
He explained most car criminals are opportunists who tend to break into autos when valuables are on show.
Motorists were advised to park in well lit areas and activate alarms and immobilisers.
Anyone who has information on the recent break-ins has been encouraged to contact the police.
