Motorists urged not to be dipsticks
Hard-up men and women drivers who want to keep their motoring costs down are being urged to carry out basic car maintenance.
Vehicle care specialist Comma claimed conducting a dipstick test is a straightforward procedure that could save people thousands of pounds.
The group pointed out failing to regularly carry out this task - which should not take more than a couple of minutes - is a false economy.
It explained drivers in the UK are risking having to shell out a total of £300 million every year by allowing oil levels to fall too low.
To raise awareness of the potential problems that could arise by neglecting this type of car maintenance, Comma is organising National Oil Check Week from June 15th to 19th.
Halfords and Mobil 1 are also lending their support to the campaign.
Women drivers who are concerned about how their motors are running may be well advised to take their vehicles to a female-friendly garage for car servicing.
