Female drivers waiting for Seat's new Ibiza hatchback update have been given a sneak peak at the model before it finally hits British showrooms.

Specialists at What Car? have now taken the new model on a test drive after a year of reports and publicity teasers from the Spanish manufacturer.

The latest Ibiza was given an official fanfare in Barcelona back in April but is yet to arrive in the UK.

What Car? reports: "There's lots of head and legroom for four, and the 292-litre boot can easily swallow a baby buggy."

Women drivers will have to wait until July before the car is available in female friendly UK dealerships, with the starting price yet to be announced.

Key features of the new model include a re-styled angular design, electric front windows and twin front and side airbags as standard.

Seat has even toured three versions of the new model on perspex-sided trucks across 17 European countries to heighten driver interest.

The company also produces the Seat Leon, Altea and Toledo models and is developing a reputation as a hatchback specialist after saying it had no plans for future UK estate models.
