Northern women 'may have to shell out more for car repairs'
Women drivers in Scotland may find they are more likely to have to shell out for car repairs as a result of poorly-maintained roads than motorists living elsewhere in the UK.
Figures published on Warranty Direct's website Potholes.co.uk has revealed people are thought to be paying about £1 million a day fixing vehicles because of uneven surfaces - and the problem seems to get worse for people living in the north.
The company explained six per cent of cars suffer from suspension and axle damage caused by poor road quality every year in Britain.
Of the ten regions where the problem is most pronounced, five are in Scotland and four are in northern England.
Duncan McClure, managing director of Warranty Direct, said there was clearly a north-south divide.
He stated: "Whether this is due to colder weather causing more northern roads to crack or just poor maintenance, it seems to underline a clear difference in the condition of highways across the country."
Women drivers who are concerned about their vehicle's suspension may benefit from booking it into a female-friendly garage for a check-up.
