Plate 'fit for a queen' kept in the UK
A number plate rather regally inscribed with 1 HRH has sold for a princely sum of £113,815, it has been revealed.
DVLA Personalised Registrations announced this week that the unique reg was bought at auction by a millionaire who wished to remain anonymous.
However, he discussed why he bought it, stating that it has "obvious royal links" and is therefore something of an investment.
"In my mind, there aren't many registrations that can better 1 HRH," he said, going on to debate whether he should use it on his Bentley or Rolls Royce Phantom.
The buyer also explained his purchase by saying that he wanted to keep the plate "in British hands".
Meanwhile, the DVLA said earlier this week that those looking for a special Valentine's Day gift might want to have a look at what personalised plates are on offer.
According to the group, one in five are bought as gifts, so any women drivers out there thinking of a unique present for their loved one might want to check them out.
