Reliability 'more important than style'
UK motorists are choosing value for money and reliability over style when buying new cars, it has been claimed.
According to research from Confused.com, the number of people who now regard their vehicle as a status symbol is 2.8 per cent.
In comparison, 36 per cent of those questioned said price was a key factor for them when buying a motor because they were on a limited budget.
The reliability of a car was also cited by 20 per cent of participants as being important - with these motorists revealing they would always opt for a manufacturer they trusted.
Will Thomas from Confused.com commented: "Cars are no longer the status symbols that they once were, with drivers favouring buying vehicles for reliable transport from A to B."
