Scrappage scheme could make new cars affordable
Women motorists who are desperate to get rid of their old banger could get their hands on a brand new set of wheels for less than £4,500, it has been revealed.
Chevrolet pointed out its entry-level Matiz will cost £4,295 under the government's vehicle scrappage scheme.
In order to qualify, female drivers will need to own a car that is at least ten years old.
Participants will be offered at least £2,000 off any new Chevrolet if they are prepared to scrap their old vehicle.
The manufacturer claimed its Matiz will help owners make savings in other areas as well because it qualifies for cheap insurance, offers excellent fuel economy and is eligible for low-cost road tax.
Women drivers who cannot afford a new motor may find they can keep their current model on the road for a few more years by taking good care of it.
Regular car servicing at a female-friendly garage could help to ensure a vehicle remains roadworthy for the foreseeable future.
