Scrappage scheme sees Suzuki sales rise
Female motorists keen to take advantage of the government's cash for bangers initiative may not be alone, if figures from Suzuki are anything to go by.
The manufacturer has revealed it has taken 2,100 orders since the initiative got underway in May.
David Seward, director of sales and marketing, commented: "Our dealers are reporting greatly increased showroom traffic and some are experiencing a four-fold increase in orders."
The company claimed models like the Splash, Swift and Alto were proving particularly popular with participants in the programme.
The latter model is available to people taking advantage of the financial incentive from £5,245.
It also comes with a range of standard equipment, including child seat anchorage points, four airbags, remote central locking and electric front windows.
One of the reasons the cash for bangers initiative was introduced was to help cut the UK's carbon footprint.
The government hopes it will see motorists ditch older, highly-polluting models for low-emission autos.
