Shopping centres get electric car chargers 15 April 08
Female drivers with green cars may find that their lives have been made a little easier with the recent introduction of electric car chargers at nine shopping centres across the country.
Capital Shopping Centres (CSC) has introduced the chargers at no cost to the consumer after joining forced with Elektromotive and EDF Energy.
According to CSC, the move is intended to raise awareness of how beneficial using green cars can be to the environment as well as to the wallet.
Charging stations are now in use at the following locations: The Potteries, Stoke-on-Trent; Braehead, Renfrew, Glasgow; The Chimes, Uxbridge; Chapelfield, Norwich; MetroCentre, Gateshead; The Glades, Bromley; The Victoria Centre, Nottingham; Lakeside, Thurrock and The Harlequin, Watford.
Steph Savill, founder of FOXY Lady Drivers Club, has voiced her support for the scheme, commending CSC and EDF Energy for providing the services, which may be of interest to female drivers who are in the process of going green.
She said: "There is a growing interest in all areas of green motoring and innovative services like these are bound to encourage more women drivers to consider buying electric or hybrid cars when they know that recharging facilities they'll need exist at local places they are likely to visit on a regular basis."
