Sir Alan Sugar: Female workers 'should deal with their lot'
08 April 08

Sir Alan Sugar, of The Apprentice fame, has spoken candidly about his views on women in the workplace; female drivers may be interested to read.

The business tycoon has commented that he feels not being able to ask personal questions about home life and children - as stipulated in employment law - are "damaging to women".

He told the Mirror: "The reality is that some employers are hesitant to employ women in key roles.

"Regretfully, there's concern in the back of their minds that women may not be a good choice because they may come with complications and have their work and career disrupted by family stuff."

Sir Alan went on to say that while this may not be fair, such are the ways of the business world. He called upon females to be shrewd enough to deal with this reality and be ready to explain how their home life will not disrupt their work.

However, he added that some of his best employees have been women, describing them as "focused" and "ultra-efficient".

According to findings by The Future Laboratory, more than 50 per cent of women with children are now back in the workplace.
