Skipping car servicing 'is a false economy'

By choosing a garage or dealership that has signed the female friendly FOXY Promise© women drivers can avoid being patronised, overcharged or mis-sold services at MOT, car servicing or vehicle repair times.

Women drivers still need to shop around for female friendly garages during the credit crunch to ensure their vehicles are well-maintained, according to Motor Codes.

The group has acknowledged it can be tempting to skip car servicing when times are tight.

However, it has warned this can be a false economy.

The organisation said the average cost of a basic vehicle service is approximately £125, but added car repairs can be much more expensive.

Motor Codes explained regular car checks are even more important for female motorists with older vehicles, as a regular service history can help a motor retain more of its value when it comes time to sell.

Director Chris Mason stated: "If you don't carry out scheduled maintenance or fail to have repairs carried out promptly, you could eventually end up paying more."

During the summer, Motor Codes reported a new code of practice had been to improve the standards of UK garages.
