Smokers 'may struggle to sell'
Male and female drivers who want to get the best possible price for their motors when the time comes to sell have been advised not to smoke behind the wheel.
According to British Car Auctions (BCA), vehicles that smell of cigarettes tend to attract lower prices than other models.
It pointed out by smoking in their cars, motorists also run the risk of leaving scorch marks in the upholstery or ashtray, adding they could cause discolouration to the interior as well.
PR manager Tim Naylor acknowledged prices for used vehicles are rising but he warned not all models go for high prices.
"Buyers will only part with their cash for the very best examples and any car that has been heavily smoked in is potentially at a disadvantage," he said.
Meanwhile, with more cash-strapped families planning to holiday in the UK this year, BCA recently reported increased interest in caravans and motorhomes.
