Test results may impress safety-conscious ladies
Female motorists who prioritise safety when purchasing a new set of wheels may be impressed by the results of some recent vehicle tests.
During the latest Euro Ncap crash assessments, five out of the six models came away with a maximum score.
The cars found to offer excellent levels of protection were the Honda Jazz, Peugeot 3008, Hyundai i20, Kia Soul and Audi Q5.
Euro Ncap said the recently-launched system of simply giving vehicles one overall score - rather than a series of separate marks - would be useful for buyers.
Michiel van Ratingen, the organisation's secretary, explained: "At the heart of the new rating scheme is the objective to offer consumers a full picture of a car's overall safety performance."
The score awarded takes into account protection offered to occupants and pedestrians, as well as technological features designed to help drivers avoid accidents.
