Toyota named greenest manufacturer
Environmentally-friendly women drivers may be impressed to hear Toyota has been named the greenest vehicle manufacturer by Business Car magazine.
The top 20 fleet companies were judged using survey results and research from Clean Green Cars - and Toyota received an overall score of 86 per cent.
In addition to the accolade from Business Car magazine, Toyota also recently clinched first place in an environmental Auto Trader poll.
According to the manufacturer, it has achieved its excellent green credentials by creating outstanding hybrid applications and minimising its impact on the planet with eco-friendly recycling and production programmes.
It also pointed out the company is on track to achieve its target of whole-fleet average CO2 emissions of 140 g/km in 2009.
Toyota added its Optimal Drive technology means its models have a green edge over most of their rivals.
Earlier this month, Volkswagen was handed a green award by What Diesel.
